The Acne Diet


Ok so I suffered from adult acne for many years – if you have too you will no how depressing and upsetting it is and how it robs you of any self-confidence you may have had before. There is so much conflicting advice as to whether your diet affects your acne breaks outs or not, but I can tell you it does.

Acne is caused when your hormones are unbalanced. You can re-balance your hormones using natural techniques and cures and your diet is a crucial part of this.

You should follow a low GI diet, this means no sugary, high fat, highly processed food. Stick to lean proteins such as chicken, turkey, fish, along with green vegetables, sweet potatoes, nuts etc. A low GI diet will help your body to absorb excess insulin.

Insulin, increases acne as it increases the oil production of your skin, which in turn blocks your pores and blocked pores cause the painful and unsightly acne spots, cysts, blemishes and blackheads. A diet high in processed food and sugar increases insulin, so stay away from these. You can regulate your insulin production by eating little and often, and I have found it best to not leave a gap of more than 3 hours between eating. Eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat and fish.

The added bonus of this diet is that it not only gives you great skin but you lose weight, have more energy and feel great. Diet is obviously not the whole picture in curing your acne naturally, but it is definitely more important than many people would have you believe.
